Hyderabad, July 17, 2023: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday promised to extend the metro to Patancheru, a rapidly growing suburb of Hyderabad.
KCR made the announcement while addressing a public meeting in Patancheru after laying the foundation stone for a super-specialty hospital. He said that the metro extension would be taken up in the first cabinet meeting after the BRS is re-elected to power in 2024.
The metro extension to Patancheru is a long-standing demand of the residents of the area. Patancheru is home to a number of IT companies and educational institutions, and the metro extension would provide much-needed connectivity to the area.
KCR also announced a number of other development projects for Patancheru, including the construction of a new flyover, a new railway station, and a new bus depot. He said that the government is committed to the development of Patancheru and that it will become a major hub of economic activity in the coming years.
The announcement of the metro extension to Patancheru was welcomed by the residents of the area. They said that the metro would help to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity to the rest of the city.
The metro extension to Patancheru is expected to cost around Rs 2,000 crore. The government has said that it will be funded through a mix of loans and public-private partnership.
